Rush on ALTRATEC booth at training fair in Stollberg
On Saturday, hundreds of young people made their way to the 13th Training Fair, which took place at the Carl-von-Bach-Gymnasium in Stollberg.
More than 100 exhibitors, including ALTRATEC Automation GmbH, were there to inform the visitors about vocational training and study opportunities in the Erzgebirge region.
At the ALTRATEC booth, many young people were interested in an apprenticeship as mechatronic technician. As mechatronic technician, you are a mechanic and electronics technician in one person. Drilling, milling and turning are just as much part of your tasks as the construction of control cabinets. Once all preliminary work has been completed, the systems are assembled from the individual mechanical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic components. “The training as mechatronic technician is challenging.” reports production manager Jörg Naumann, “Thus, we put high demands on our prospective apprentices. They must be good at mathematics and physics and need good technical skills and understanding.”
Similar requirements must be met by the future cutting machine trainees. They are the experts for the ALTRATEC precision components. They work on both, conventional and CNC-controlled metal cutting machines. The apprenticeship lasts for 3.5 years and is carried out in cooperation with the Bildungswerkstatt Chemnitz, just like the training of mechatronic technicians. This means that the basic knowledge is taught in Chemnitz, while the specialized training takes place in the Neukirchen plant.
ALTRATEC was also able to point options for young people who want to pursue a commercial career. Since this year, industrial clerks are being trained in Neukirchen. They send and compare quotes, order parts for the production, control incoming goods, check invoices and support the human resources and marketing division. Even though clerks work mainly at the desk, it never gets boring.
For high school graduates who want to combine practice and study, ALTRATEC is ready to be a practice partner for the dual study programs “Industrial Production” and “Digital Engineering” of the Berufsakademie Glauchau. While the Industrial Production program, as the name implies, focuses on production engineering, Digital Engineering combines classic engineering disciplines with IT and computer science. After three years of training, students receive a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
