Online shops have become an integral part of our everyday lives. Clothes, books, electronic devices, furniture or other items – almost any product can be ordered easily and stress-free online.

As a result of the corona crisis many retailers who had previously focused on stationary retail recognized the need for e-commerce and expanded their business areas accordingly. Sustainable intralogistics that meet the requirements of online trading is therefore right at the top of the agenda of many retailers.

With its many years of expertise in the interlinking of machining and material handling units in a wide variety of industries, Altratec Automation GmbH was the perfect partner for a well-known timber retailer with an online shop. The aim of a joint project is to develop an innovative intralogistics system with alternative drive technology. Instead of 400 volts, as usually used in the automation industry, the new system runs with 24 volt drive technology. Packages of various sizes will be transported with the Altratec conveyor. Divided into many short segments, the system enables efficient and cost-effective material logistics that reliably bring goods with a weight of up to 50 kilograms to their destination.

We are creating an automated logistics system that completely replaces the previous manual processing of the specialist dealer. In addition to the packaging of the wooden goods, the conveyor also combines machine technology for closing, strapping and labeling the packages before they are distributed to the appropriate conveyor lines for various distributers.

The project is currently in the construction phase, but the system will roll through our yard gate as early as autumn this year.
